Keep in mind: these wavetables are a tool for synthesis and won't necessarily sound like sampled guitars or basses. At the same time, because of the theory behind these wavetables, making an envelope to scroll through the wavetable at different rates might get you something that sounds like a guitar or bass string being picked or plucked!
